Oral Health Prevention
Our first goal, before any dental therapy is to prevent oral diseases and promote oral health. The majority of dental diseases are infections caused by the accumulation of bacteria in dental plaque. This is the reason why our main focus is the elimination of dental plaque through effective oral hygiene practices and regular preventive visits to the dental office.
Dental plaque contains millions of bacteria. Some are responsible for tooth caries (through dissolution of the enamel) and others cause gum disease (gingivitis and periodontitis) by detaching the gums from the teeth and destroying the tooth supportive system.
How can we avoid the accumulation of dental plaque and its negative effects? THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE. With a prevention program based on two pillars:
- A) A professional dental hygiene to remove accumulated tartar and dental plaque. The periodicity ranges from every 4 months to once a year.
- B) Daily tooth brushing and flossing to prevent the bulid-up of dental plaque and tartar
This prevention program will help you keep your gums and teeth healthy for a longer period of time.
